Transend Migrator Forensic Edition Converts Email From Virtually All Email Systems/Clients To Formats for eDiscovery PALO ALTO, CA -- November 22, 2005 -- Transend Corporation today announced the immediate availability of Transend Migrator Forensic Edition, a special edition of Transend's award-winning Microsoft Windows email migration utility. Transend Migrator Forensic Edition converts email data from virtually all email systems or clients to formats required for eDiscovery, including Outlook PST, PDF, MSG, JPEG, TIFF, IMAP, RFC-822 and others. It also provides deduplication and searching capabilities to limit unnecessary data conversion. Deduplication removes duplicate email messages as determined by the MD5 hash algorithm. MD5 hash creates a unique mathematical value by analyzing certain properties of the email message, including message body, subject, date, sender, recipient list, attachment header and attachment data. All or a subset of these fields can be included in the MD5 hash value. Through these fields, Transend Migrator Forensic Edition is able to determine which messages are duplicate or unique. Another feature to reduce unnecessary email conversion is the content based searching and message culling feature. Users have the option of searching through one or all of the message parts -- header metadata, message content, attachment name and attachment content --and outputting only those messages/attachments that match the search criteria.
