| What
is MAPI? |
|
MAPI stands for Microsoft's "Messaging Application Programming
Interface". This is a standard that applications use to support
messaging in the Windows world. There is a front end portion of MAPI
that applications like word processors can use to implement e-mail
and then there's the back end interface that talks with different
messaging systems, like cc:Mail. |

to 2000 plus that year. (e.g. 6/4/02 will be June 4, 2002).

be converted to 1900 plus that year. (e.g. 6/4/70 will be

| When trying to import
folders, certain folders don't get imported and I get an error
message. |
| |
| Accented characters
(e.g. accented French characters) and three other characters in a
folder or bulletin board name cause an error since they are not
allowed by cc:Mail export.exe. The three non-accented characters
are: |
| |
/ (with a space before
and after)
" (quote)
a space after a folder name |
| |
| To see if there is a
space after a folder name, you'll need to use the cc:Mail client,
highlight the suspected folder and select "rename". If a folder name
contains the above characters or accented characters, change the
folder name to eliminate them using the cc:Mail client and try
importing again. |

| When importing Private Mail Lists into Outlook Contacts, there are no addresses in the lists but the individual address entries are in the Contacts. |
| You need to add Outlook
Address Book to your profile. Then check properties on the Contacts
(by right-clicking on the Contacts folder) and select the Outlook
Address Book tab and check "Show this folder as an email Address
Book". Try the Private Mail List import again and the addresses
should be added to the lists. |
| |
| Colored text is not preserved in Outlook. |
| RTF (rich text format)
is used to support color and other special formating. Unfortunately
cc:Mail's RTF is not compatible with Outlook/Exchange RTF. |

| When I import messages from my cc:Mail folders, why do all the dates get changed to the current date? |
| This occurs when
messages are imported into the Exchange server's message store,
which is set as the default message store (the folders new mail is
delivered to). To correct this problem, create a profile with the
cc:Mail service and personal folders (.pst file) only. Then import
folders/messages by clicking on Tools/cc:Mail Service Tools/Import
cc:Mail Folders. Then go back to the profile with the Exchange
server folders and add the same personal folders (.pst file) from
the previous step. You should then see both the Exchange server
folders and Personal Folders with cc:Mail imported folders/messages.
You can now move the imported cc:Mail folders/messages to the
Exchange server folders and the original dates will be maintained. |
